Minneapolis artist Paige Guggemos is all in on this year's Northern Spark and plans to absorb as much of the all-night Minneapolis art festival as she can. From 9:01 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, to sunrise on Sunday June 15, along the Minneapolis riverfront.
Emily Wright, managing director for the Minnesota Guitar Society, says discovering the Uruguyan Candombe tradition has forced her to re-define what music is and should be. Candombe drumming, singing and dance will be overtaking Montevideo this weekend June 13 - 15. "Chippewa Candombera" is a collaboration between Montevideo, Minnesota, and its sister city in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Minneapolis surf/garage rockers L'Assassins bring it, says Liz Wilkinson of the Minneapolis honky tonk band Wilkinson James. Liz loves L'Assassins' unabashedly sexy, feminist, female energy on stage. L'Assassins is playing Friday, June 13 at Icehouse in Minneapolis, and Saturday, June 14 at Northern Spark.
