Kerri's book Pick of the Week is "The Miniaturist," a debut novel set in 17th century Amsterdam.
The book, which was published in the United States last week, is an international bestseller. The Telegraph called the book "finely crafted." More from The Telegraph:
In winter 1686, provincial 18-year-old Petronella Oortman arrives in Amsterdam, the new bride of wealthy, charismatic merchant Johannes Brandt - a man she barely knows. Greeted only by his frosty, ascetic sister Marin, it's not the best of starts, and it gets progressively stranger as Nella's husband avoids consummating their marriage and presents her instead with an extravagant wedding gift - a miniature replica of their own cloistered, controlled home.
