The Replacements back on TV for first time since 1986

Today's Morning Edition music is from the Replacements and their performance of "Alex Chilton" on last night's Tonight Show on NBC starring Jimmy Fallon.

It was the band's first time on national television since 1986 when they were on Saturday Night Live. The band had planned to play two songs, but an interview with Keith Richards about a children's book he created with his granddaughter went long, so the second song was cut.

The Current's Mary Lucia was backstage at the taping. You can read her behind-the-scenes account online at The Current. The Replacements perform in the Twin Cities for the first time in 22 years on Saturday with a sold-out show at Midway Stadium.
