Analyst urges MNsure consumers to shop around after rate changes

Health carriers selling insurance plans on MNsure are raising their rates an average of 4.5 percent for next year.
But the state health care exchange is expected to offer the lowest premiums in the nation in 2015. And, consumers can expect more choice. The new rates were released Wednesday. The next enrollment period opens Nov. 15.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Steve Parente health insurance rates and the state health care exchange. Parente teaches at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management where he's also the insurance industry chairman of health finance. In addition, he directs the Medical Industry Leadership Institute at the university.
