50 years ago, James Brown stole the T.A.M.I. Show

Today's Morning Edition music is from James Brown and the Famous Flames performing for a crowd of frenzied high school students in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium 50 years ago this week. They were part of a television special called Teenage Awards Music International or the T.A.M.I. Show.

Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, the Supremes and the Rolling Stones were all on the bill. The Stones agreed to play last even though that meant following James Brown. Keith Richards would later call that decision the biggest mistake of their careers. Here's a clip of the Stones doing, "It's all over now."
