Obama on climate agreement with China: Ambitious, but achievable

"Ambitious" but "achievable" is how President Barack Obama described a breakthrough climate agreement with China, announced Wednesday at the APEC conference in Beijing.

Obama says the U.S. will sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions at the same time that China caps its own emissions. The U.S. and China are the top two greenhouse gas emitting nations in the world.

"It will double the pace at which we're reducing carbon pollution in the United States," Obama said. "It puts us on a path to achieving the deep emissions reductions by advanced economies that the scientific community says is necessary to prevent the most catastrophic effects of climate change."
