No online cookie sales for some Minnesota, Wisconsin Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys has decided not to sell cookies online.

Girl Scouts of the USA is allowing its members to sell cookies using a mobile app or personalized websites. But the River Valleys council, which serves 40,000 girls in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, decided not to participate in the program.

Last year, River Valleys created and tested the Digital Cookie concept, and 80 senior and ambassador Girl Scouts sold a little more than 2,400 packages online, according to the council's website.

But the Star Tribune reports the council decided not to participate in the program this year for a variety of reasons, including the non-competitive shipping costs. River Valleys didn't rule out possibly participating in the program in the future.
