Twin Cities musician Curt Almsted — better known as Curtiss A — lists "Any Time At All" as his favorite Lennon song

Almsted returns to First Avenue in Minneapolis tonight for the 35th installment of a John Lennon tribute concert. The event started as a spontaneous reaction to news of Lennon's death.

Tonight's celebration will be guided by musician and visual artist Curtiss A. The event started as a spontaneous reaction to news of Lennon's death.

Today's Morning Edition music is from "Any Time At All" by the Beatles. Of all the John Lennon compositions that he performs, Curtiss A tells the Star Tribune that this one is his favorite.  Tonight at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Curtiss A will once again be the master of the ceremonies at a  tribute to the music of John Lennon. It began 35 years ago as a spontaneous reaction to the news of Lennon's murder.  But it evolved into an annual event where a large group of local musicians play music created by the Beatles and by Lennon as a solo artist.
