Three years later, the effects of the Libyan revolution are still being felt across the globe. The country acts as a hub for the illegal arms trade, funneling weapons into the hands of rebel groups throughout North Africa and the Middle East.
Freelance journalist Sarah Topol traveled to the area to follow the arms and the people who smuggled them. She wrote about her journey for a piece in Harper's Magazine in collaboration with The Nation Institute's Investigative Fund.
She spoke with The Daily Circuit from Istanbul to talk about her experience.
