A man died after crashing into an unoccupied police car while fleeing from law enforcement in Otter Tail County shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday.
The man, who hasn't yet been identified, fled a Minnesota State Patrol trooper attempting to stop him on Highway 54 near Elbow Lake.
During the 11-mile pursuit, law enforcement officers put down "stop sticks," which the man's car struck. He crashed head-on into an unoccupied Ashby Police Department squad car. The State Patrol said he was trapped in his car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from the Ashby Police Department, Fergus Falls Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Office and Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office also participated in the pursuit. No officers were injured in the incident.
