Officials say a pregnant passenger believed to have gone into labor aboard a plane has given birth at a Salt Lake City hospital after her flight was diverted to Utah.
Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said it appeared the woman went into labor Wednesday on the airplane heading from San Francisco to Minneapolis.
Gann says a pediatrician on board assisted the woman before the Delta Air Lines flight landed in Salt Lake City around 10 a.m. MST and the woman was hospitalized.
University of Utah hospital spokeswoman Kathy Wilets says the mother gave birth Wednesday afternoon. Wilets had no other details.
The Delta website shows the diverted flight continued on to Minneapolis, landing just before 2 p.m. CST.
