Funeral scheduled for student killed in bus-train crash

Funeral services have been scheduled for a 17-year-old Larimore, North Dakota, student killed in a collision involving a school bus and a freight train.

Bakke Funeral Home says the funeral for Cassidy Sandstrom is at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the high school gymnasium. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to the service. Sandstrom will be buried in a rural cemetery near Emerado, North Dakota.

The crash at a crossing outside Larimore Jan. 7 killed Sandstrom and 62-year-old bus driver Max Danner, and injured 12 other students. The cause is still being determined.

WDAZ-TV reports that about 600 people turned out Wednesday night for a fundraiser at a Grand Forks restaurant to help the families of the crash victims.
