Wrestler 'The Crusher' inspires hit song

Today's Morning Edition music is from 50 years ago today, when a song by a Twin Cities band was making its way up the national charts.

"The Crusher" by the Novas made it to No. 88 on the Billboard pop chart. It was their only hit.

The song was inspired by Reggie "The Crusher" Liskowski, a professional wrestler from Milwaukee. The Crusher was a well-known heel for many years in the Minneapolis-based American Wrestling Association. He passed away in 2005.
