Woman dies after being pulled from fire in St. Paul

One woman has died after she was pulled from a house fire in St. Paul.

The fire was reported Sunday morning at 72 Rose Ave. E.

St. Paul Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard said firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. Zaccard told the Pioneer Press that the home was filled with contents about four feet high, which made rescue difficult.

Firefighters found a woman in a bathtub, where Zaccard said she might have gone to hide. She was pulled from the house but did not survive.

The Fire Department said on their official Twitter account that the woman was identified as 63-year-old Renee Beatrice Tollas, the home's owner.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
