It's a big week for sports fans in our region.

College basketball: Notre Dame and Connecticut play tonight for the women's championship in a rematch of last year's final. And last night, Wisconsin fell just short in its bid to win the school's first national title in over 70 years, losing to perennial powerhouse Duke.

Baseball: The Twins opened their season yesterday in Detroit with a new manager and fresh hope of ending their recent string of futility. They take on the Kansas City Royals at Target Field in their home opener next week.

Hockey: The Wild are on the cusp of clinching a playoff birth, after making a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season.
