Carver County sheriff's officials say an elderly man died after he was attacked in his home which had been ransacked.
Deputies were called to the victim's home in San Francisco Township Saturday about 7 p.m. by a man who was asked by a relative to check on the homeowner's welfare.
Authorities say 90-year-old Earl Olander was found with his hands bound and appeared to have been assaulted. The house had been ransacked.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called to assist in the investigation. Officials say a cause of death has not been determined.
