Weather permitting, farmers could resume planting their crops Wednesday.

So far, spring planting is ahead of schedule in most places and much earlier than last year. MPR News will check in with some farmers throughout the growing season this year.

On Tuesday, Morning Edition producer Jim Bickal stopped by a farm outside Norwood, Minn., where Larry Dreier raises dairy cows. He also grows alfalfa, corn and soybeans.

Dreier says the alfalfa seeds have been in the ground for over two weeks now.
