It's quite a public health triumph.

According to global health authorities, Rubella, also known as German Measles, has been eliminated from the Americas.

Rubella was once a much feared disease because of the birth defects it could cause in unborn children.

Dr. Jon Hallberg says there's one primary reason the battle against Rubella has been won in this part of the world — immunizations.
