A new bronze rendering of Chief Bemidji will be dedicated in Bemidji, Minnesota Saturday.
Chief Bemidji was an Ojibwe man named Shaynowishkung who is the namesake of the town. The statue will stand on the western shore of Lake Bemidji, not far from the well-known statue of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. It's the same site where the old Chief Bemidji Statue stood.
Jody Beaulieu, member of the Chief Bemidji Statue Committee, joined MPR News' Tom Weber to discuss the statue.
