How to replace artificial colors and flavors in our food

Twin Cities-based General Mills announced last week that it plans to remove artificial colors and flavors from its cereals by the end of 2017. The company says it will start using different ingredients like fruit, vegetable juice and spices like turmeric.

MPR News' Tom Weber talked with food developer Barb Stuckey about the science and chemistry behind our food, and how General Mills and other companies will go about replacing artificial ingredients.
