A Marine who grew up in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, is among the four Marines who died in a shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The Marine Corps identifies him as Sgt. Carson Holmquist, whose service included a deployment to Afghanistan.
Grantsburg High School Principal Josh Watt says it's a sad day in the western Wisconsin community of about 1,300 people.
Holmquist graduated in 2008 and Watt was one of his football coaches. He calls Holmquist a great young man who really enjoyed football, hunting and fishing.
"One of the best memories that I have of Carson, I remember when he came back after basic training, he stopped at the school to visit. He was dressed in his blues and you could just tell he was so proud to be a Marine and accomplish what he did," Watt said.
Holmquist's father, Thomas Holmquist, of Grantsburg, and other relatives declined to comment.
