Sinker: Surprising Twins have high hopes for second half of season

The Minnesota Twins begin the post-All Star game part of their season in Oakland tonight.

The team has 49 wins and 40 losses at this point in the season, a big improvement over the last few years.

In basketball: Not much has changed since last year for the Minnesota Lynx. They're still a top team, but their record this year is a bit deceiving.

MPR News' Phil Picardi spoke with Howard Sinker, a digital sports editor for the Star Tribune, about the Twins and the Lynx, and also discussed the news that Triple Crown-winning horse American Pharoah won't be coming to Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn., later this year.
