Last week, the NYTimes reported that a correctional facility in Fishkill, New York had a prison guard 'beat up squad,' which was responsible for the death of a prisoner. As more attention is paid to abuse and poor conditions in prisons - little is being said about what it's like to be a guard in prison, a profession with high suicide and PTSD rates.
