We walk in beauty: Finding Minnesota's best fall color
Weather conditions seem to be aligning to make colors burn bright this fall in Minnesota. The state Department of Natural Resources has started updating its seasonal foliage finder map, meaning the color show isn't far behind.
There are no drought conditions anywhere in Minnesota, and DNR officials say showers the last few weeks have improved conditions for a lovely fall. Warm sunny days and cool night with no frost make for a great season.
Peak fall color usually begins along the Canadian border in mid- to late-September and ends in southern Minnesota in early to mid-October, the DNR says. The Twin Cities usually sees peak color in late September to mid-October.
