Three undercover Minneapolis police officers whose names were made public after prostitution busts at massage parlors are now suing the city, county and state.
The officers are identified as John Does in the lawsuit. They claim that releasing their identities to the public was a "willful act" and violates the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
The lawsuit doesn't reference the massage parlor cases. But the police union's president and the officers' attorney confirmed that link to The Associated Press on Thursday.
The prostitution busts got media attention when they were dismissed this summer after judges said the officers went too far.
The city says it's reviewing the lawsuit, which was filed last week. The city says it takes its obligations under the state Data Practices Act seriously.
