Two young boys who were reportedly abducted by their father were found Thursday morning in Dakota County.

Lakeville police received reports early Thursday that a man was in a running car with the 2-year-old and 4-year-old inside a closed garage. A hose was connected between the car's exhaust pipe and the inside of the car.

The man fled with the two children in the vehicle before officers arrived. Family members told police that he'd been threatening suicide.

An Amber Alert was issued for the two children at about 2:15 a.m. Shortly after, Burnsville police officers pulled the car with the children over and the man was arrested.

Neither child appears to have been harmed. The Amber Alert was canceled early Thursday morning.
