A man in a wheelchair died after being hit by a Blue Line light rail train in south Minneapolis Sunday.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at 32nd Street and Hiawatha Avenue. The victim was transported by paramedics to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died. Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla said the man was not alone at the time he was injured, but questions about the accident remain.
"Exactly how that wheelchair came to be in the position where it was close enough to the tracks in order to be struck at that moment is one of the things that investigators are going to be looking into, or actually, already are looking into," Padilla said.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office will release the victim's name.
