Today's Morning Edition music is from David Bowie with "I Can't Give Everything Away" a track from his final album "Blackstar," which was released three days ago on Bowie's 69th birthday.

A statement posted on his Facebook page announced that Bowie died Sunday surrounded by his family after an 18-month battle with cancer.

Producer Tony Visconti, who worked with Bowie throughout his career, wrote that he knew for the last year that "Blackstar" would be Bowie's "parting gift."

"He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life — a work of Art."
