Gov. Mark Dayton and legislative leaders still aren't on the same page on the need for a special session.
It's been more than two months since the Democratic governor raised the idea to extend unemployment benefits for laid-off steelworkers. Tackling racial economic disparities and upgrading Minnesota driver's license to meet federal standards are also in the mix.
But top officials emerged from a Thursday meeting with no clear path forward. Republican House Speaker Kurt Daudt says he thinks it can wait until the Legislature returns March 8.
Dayton and Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk are aiming to call lawmakers to an emergency meeting by early February.
Hearings will continue next week.
