Today's Morning Edition music is from the title track of the new Lucinda Williams album "Ghosts of Highway 20."

The title refers to a highway through the south that she has traveled on since she was a child.

Williams says she has always been interested in the role of the open road in American culture. The album comes out on Friday, but you can listen to the whole thing now on the First Listen page at NPR.org.

She'll be coming to the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis for four shows at the beginning of April.
