Two men killed in shooting outside St. Paul motel

Two men were shot to death outside the Midway Motel in St. Paul on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Snelling Avenue North after reports of gunfire at about 9:30 p.m., said St. Paul police spokesperson Sgt. Mike Ernster.

Officers found two men wounded at the scene. One man was in the motel parking lot and the other was lying in the off-ramp from Snelling Avenue to Pierce Butler Road, Ernster said.

Both men were pronounced dead by paramedics before they could be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Ernster said the police department's forensics team is currently processing evidence at the scene of the shooting. No suspects have been arrested yet.

"They are literally still interviewing witnesses and trying to work through the facts of the case to try to determine what led to the shooting and who is responsible for it," Ernster said.

The victims' names haven't been released. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office is expected to release their identities.
