MSP film festival opens with 180 movies, multiple theaters

The 35th Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival opens Thursday evening for its two-week run.

The festival will show about 180 films from 65 countries. Even so, organizers have reduced the numbers by about 10 percent from past years "so that maybe more of our audiences can see a larger percentage of the films," said Executive Director Susan Smoluchowski.

Many of the films will be offered two or three times instead of just once. This year, in addition to screenings at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis, the festival will also present programming at the Uptown Theatre and at Metro State in St. Paul.

Information about films and show times is available at the festival's website.
