The medical examiner has released the name of the driver killed in a crash after fleeing police earlier this week in north Minneapolis.
Antwand Tyreese Cousins, 29, died shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police say officers tried to pull Cousins over after the car he was driving almost struck a police vehicle, but Cousins fled. Police pursued Cousins for about a mile before he crashed into a minivan and then into a vacant building at the intersection of West Broadway and Penn Avenue.
Cousins was ejected from the car by the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the minivan wasn't injured.
