Garrison Keillor hosts his final A Prairie Home Companion Friday night. The show will be performed at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and will be recorded for broadcast in its regular time slots this weekend.

Keillor says he's comfortable with stepping down now.

"It's a very good decision, a very realistic decision, and I have no hesitation about it even though I know that there's a certain amount of regret on the part of a lot of people, which I appreciate," he said.

A crowd of about 18,000 people is expected for the show.

Musician Chris Thile takes over as the new Prairie Home host in the fall.
