Ojibwe writer Jim Northrup dies

Ojibwe writer, poet and performer Jim Northrup died Monday night due to complications from cancer. He was 73.

Earlier this year, he spoke to MPR News reporter Euan Kerr about his cancer and contemplating the end of his life.

The wake will be held on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Sawyer Community Center in Sawyer, Minn. The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Sawyer Center.
