Heavy weekend rain breaks century-old record in Grand Forks
Storms over the Labor Day weekend dropped heavy rainfall in eastern North Dakota, breaking a century-old record in Grand Forks and leading to street flooding in the city.
The National Weather Service says 3.73 inches of rain was recorded in Grand Forks on Sunday, breaking the city's record for the date of 1.49 inches set in 1912.
The rain inundated storm sewers and flooded streets. Grand Forks police late Sunday advised no travel in the city.
