Conference focuses on individual, community resilience

There was news recently that the city of Brooklyn Park is partnering with the University of Minnesota this school year on several projects that will focus on strengthening that suburb's economic and social resiliency.

It's part of the U of M's resilient communities program.

There's a conference on Tuesday in St. Paul called "Building Resilience: Restoring Our Human Capacity to Heal," sponsored by the locally based Catalyst Initiative that will explore ways to address trauma and build resilience in individuals and communities.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Suzanne Koepplinger, the Catalyst Initiative director at the George Family Foundation.
