The annual statewide aquatic invasive species conference is underway this week in St. Cloud.
One of the ideas presented at the conference comes from Peter Sorensen, a researcher at the University of Minnesota. Sorensen would like to see Minnesota create "fresh water preserves" or "stewardship areas." He wants to set aside parts of lakes or rivers in an effort to protect the ecosystem.
