Today's Morning Edition music is from Bobby Vee with "Save the Last Dance For Me" from his 2014 album "Adobe Sessions."

The album was designed as a farewell performance after the singer and former teen idol was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease.

Vee succumbed to that disease Monday. He was 73.

Born Robert Velline in Fargo, N.D., he recorded 38 songs that made the top 100 and acted in four movies.

His son Tommy told the Saint Cloud Times, "Among the sadness, there is relief." I'm relieved that the struggle is over for him, and I'm sad as hell that he's gone."

"Teen Idol: The Bobby Vee Story" is currently playing at St. Paul's History Theatre.
