St. Paul police say a 9-year-old boy missing since he went fishing Wednesday night at a local lake was found safe. Authorities are investigating what happened.

Police on Thursday afternoon sent word through social media that they were looking for the boy, identified as Sebastian Wolbersen, and asked for the public's help in finding him. Authorities said he'd been fishing at Beaver Lake on the St. Paul-Maplewood border

By late Thursday, the department tweeted that Sebastian had been found near the lake and was "safe and with investigators."

The department said it planned to provide more information on the circumstances as early as Friday.
