Esau Jenkins — a businessman, community organizer and notable figure in the civil rights movement — has a permanent installation in his honor at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

His contributions are now presented alongside those of other leaders like Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and victims of racial atrocities like Emmet Till.

When the museum opened in September, Jenkins' great-granddaughter Tisidra Jones of St. Paul went to its opening weekend with her family.

Jones joined All Things Considered host Tom Crann to talk about her great-grandfather's legacy and what drove his business sense.
