1 woman dead, another critical after Minneapolis house fire

A house fire in north Minneapolis has killed one woman and left another fighting for her life.

Firefighters responded to the two-story, single-family home shortly before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. A 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 78-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition. They weren't immediately identified.

The fire department said 10 people live in the home. The Red Cross was helping the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined.

The fire fatality is the second in Minneapolis this year.
