New film shows how a small studio in Wisconsin influenced Nirvana

Today's Morning Edition music is from Killdozer, with their take on the Credence Clearwater Revival song "Run Through the Jungle." It was recorded in 1983 at Smart Studios in their hometown of Madison, Wis.

The new film, "The Smart Studios Story," shows how that small studio in Madison became an important influence on the alternative music scene. When members of Nirvana heard Killdozer, they liked the sound and wanted to work with producer Butch Vig. The first recordings for what would become the "Nevermind" album were made at Smart Studios and included this song.

The film will be screened tonight at the Turf Club in St. Paul.
