Blizzard warning up north, frigid temps statewide

Minnesota should take its true winter form on Tuesday when snowstorms are expected to hit northern areas and temperatures across the state will likely dip below freezing.
In fact, Monday night could be the last time Twin Cities temps stay above 32 degrees for the rest of the month. The National Weather Service says its models show a 20 percent or less chance for above-freezing temps through Dec. 20.
On MPR News' Updraft weather blog, meteorologist Ron Trenda writes that a strong low pressure system will bring snow and wind to some of northwestern Minnesota through Tuesday.
The area is under a blizzard warning from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Outside the blizzard zone, it's going to get cold Tuesday with a high temperature around 20 degrees in the Twin Cities. The metro could see some occasional rain-snow mix starting Monday night.
