How the effects of aging cascades across the state

Minnesota is getting older. Recently released Census data shows about 1 in 7 Minnesotans is older than 65, and the median age is now about 37.7.

With an aging population comes a number of social and economic issues. There are fewer people in the workforce and at same time an increasing demand for public services and health care.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Bob Kane, a professor in the school of public health at the University of Minnesota and an expert on aging and long-term care.
