Today's Morning Edition music is from "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts 50 years ago this week.
It was the most expensive, elaborate single ever produced when it was released in October 1966. The Beach Boys recorded 17 sessions over six months to get the final mix.
It didn't seem possible at the time, but the song turned out to be the last top 10 single the Beach Boys would produce for 10 years. They came back with "Rock and Roll Music" in 1976.
