The police chief in Inver Grove Heights who has been on paid leave since April while being investigated for possible wrongdoing is to resign under a separation agreement reached with the city.
Larry Stanger was accused of tipping off the owner of a Prescott, Wisconsin, auto-detailing business that the business would be searched for stolen vehicles.
Stanger wasn't charged with a crime, but the city hired a law firm in September to investigate whether he violated any city rules.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports city officials haven't released the results.
The City Council must approve the separation agreement. City Administrator Joe Lynch and City Attorney Tim Kuntz are recommending approval.
Stanger has been with the city's police department since 1989 and has been chief since January 2012.
