Today's Morning Edition music is from "Walking by Flashlight" by the Maria Schneider Orchestra from their latest album "The Thompson Fields."

Schneider's 18-piece band will be performing Thursday night in the O'Shaughnessy Auditorium at St. Catherine University in St. Paul.

The five-time Grammy winner is from the small town of Windom and attended the University of Minnesota. Schneider says much of the music on "The Thompson Fields" was inspired by her memories of the open landscape in the area where she grew up southwestern Minnesota.
