Because of his involvement in the Trump campaign, Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he will recuse himself from any investigations by his office regarding Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

He made that announcement Thursday and admitted that he spoke with the Russian ambassador twice during the campaign.

At his confirmation hearing in January, Sen. Al Franken asked Sessions what he would do if he learned that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government. Sessions responded that he "did not have communications with the Russians."

Franken is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and so is Minnesota's other senator, Amy Klobuchar. She spoke to MPR's Phil Picardi and called on Sessions to testify again.
