Today's Morning Edition music is from 40 years ago when "Rich Girl" by Hall and Oates was No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts.

Daryl Hall told Rolling Stone that the song is about a real person, but he switched the gender. It's based on stories Hall heard about Victor Walker.

Hall's girlfriend Sara Allen had dated Walker. She said he felt that he could do whatever he wanted because he knew his father, who owned a chain of fast food restaurants in Chicago, would always bail him out.
